According to the report of Gartner, operating system Android from Google Incorporate hit the global market share of 52.5 percent within the period of third quarter as compared with the market share of iPhone from Apple Incorporated which is at fifteen percent. The recorded market share of Apple within this quarter is down from 16.6 percent. Data is yet to be released for the 4Q 2011.
Based on the data gathered by Gartner, Galaxy series of smartmobiles contributed a solid performance to Android-based smartmobile units. Galaxy managed to sell over thirty million units wherein ten million units of Galaxy S version II were included.
In terms of end users, Samsung’s Android-based smartmobiles gathered twenty four million and to date, it is now the premier manufacturer of smartmobile device units in the whole world. The Korean company crushed Nokia in markets like Asia and Western Europe.
The recorded market share of Android for the third quarter of this year is two times bigger compared to the smartmobile market share of the operating system the previous year. Android grabbed shares from its entire rivals in the industry.
The platform of Nokia, Symbian, went down at seven percent from thirty-six percent on the previous year. Research In Motion, the maker of BlackBerry, which had an outage of service on the few months, garnered eleven percent share in the market. On the same quarter of the previous year, RIM had 15.4 percent.
As for Microsoft Corporation which is on the run of offering version 7 platform of Windows Phone to Nokia handsets (release date 2012), the company dipped to 1.5% from 2.7%.
