Full-bodied demand for smartmobiles that are based on Android operating system and iPhone of Apple contribute to the outstanding progress of Verizon Wireless. The earnings of the giant wireless carrier for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2011 are positively recorded. Despite the union strike which occurred for two consecutive weeks in August, Verizon still managed to bring about a strong achievement in terms of earnings.
The high demand of Android-based smartmobiles and iPhone devices including the 4G LTE technology of wireless network is the main factor in Verizon’s progress within the third quarter. This was identified in an earnings call which was participated by the Verizon’s top executives.
Verizon’s CFO Francis J. Shammo stated, “We are viewing that the release of iPhone 4S will input more new clients as we are anticipating a strong demand for the new device of Apple Incorporated.”
Within the second quarter, the reported sales results of Apple were only 2.3 millions upon activation as several customers deferred from upgrading their units because they waited for the official day of release of iPhone 4S. The device was officially released on October14.
Revenues of 27.9 billion dollars were reported by Verizon for its earnings in third quarter. This amount of revenue is up by 5.4 percent as compared with the earnings of the previous year on the same quarter which was only 26.5 billion dollars. Analysts estimated an amount of revenue which is 27.88 billion dollars. The earnings for third quarter are doubled to 1.38 billion dollars or forty-nine cents a share. In the same quarter of the previous year, there was only 659 million dollars or twenty cents a share.
